If you're into Soviet stuff, I highly recommend "Бриллиантовая рука" and "Операция „Ы“ и другие приключения Шурика"
Exceptionally good movies.

Roger Ebert liked Waking Life. Might grab that. I don't remember it as being especially intellectual, but it has a cool rotoscoped art style.

sneakers is about physical pen. testers in the early 90s who thievery and hacking to test banks and other organizations opsec. they get enlisted by the NSA but it's all very shady and lots of intrigue. Good movie one of my favorites. Talks about everything Snowden talked about except it came out in '92
